CACBG is looking for are an experienced Human Resources (HR) Manager who can oversee the HR functions, recruitment operations and strategies for our charity.
The successful candidate will have or will be working towards obtaining a Level 7 Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) qualification.
As Human Resources Manager you will have experience in planning, organising, supporting and improving human resources activities. You will have excellent leadership skills and be able to communicate effectively to direct and inspire staff to achieve their fullest potential.

Key duties and responsibilities
Policy and Process
- Keep relevant HR policies and processes under review and introduce efficiencies and automations as appropriate, especially with regards to PeopleHR (our HR management system)
- Advise managers on employment legislation and terms and conditions of employment as appropriate
- Ensure all HR policies are up-to-date and suggest introduction of new / updated policies as appropriate to ensure best practice
- Work with management team to develop our Wellbeing Strategy including our benefits package
- Ensure compliance with legislation, particularly around Data Protection
HR / People Support
- Manage complex employee relations casework including dispute resolutions, disciplinaries, grievances, absence and redundancy
- Provide HR policy and process support to managers and employees
- Review sickness absence and undertake relevant interventions, including referrals to Occupational Health and advice to managers on phased return
- Work with the Finance Team to ensure all employee variations and changes are captured accurately in the payroll build and submitted in a timely manner
- Be responsible for the preparation of quarterly and ad hoc HR reports, as required
- Ensure internal HR communications are well planned, coordinated, relevant, timely and adhere to CACBG’s values
- Make sure that CACBG’s values are utilised to strengthen the organisational culture
- Lead the equity, diversity and inclusion values and practices within CACBG
Recruitment
- With colleagues, develop and maintain the hiring process in CACBG ensuring that it is efficient and effective and encourages applicants
- Be responsible for the Team Tailor recruitment system, ensuring that it is kept up to date and that it is being used efficiently and correctly by managers
- Support managers in the recruitment of employees, including job descriptions, advertising and interviews
Employment Contracts
- Oversee preparation of contracts of employment prior to sign off by the appropriate manager
- Oversee all pre-employment checks, especially right to work documentation and references
- Ensure contracts of employment are reviewed on a regular basis and remain compliant with relevant legislation
- Carry out exit interviews for employees
Professional development
- Keep up to date with developments in employment legislation and HR best practice, sharing knowledge with the team to ensure compliance and continuous development and improvement
- Attend relevant internal and external meetings as agreed
- Prepare for and attend supervision sessions/ team meetings/ staff meetings as appropriate
- Identify your own training needs and agree with your line manager training and development activities to be undertaken

Person specification
Technical Skills, Qualifications & Experience
- CIPD qualified at Level 7 (or working towards)
- Thorough knowledge of UK employment legislation and its application
- Experience of writing and introducing new policies and procedures, and getting buy in from stakeholders
- Experience of leading on recruitment
- Experience of using People HR or equivalent
- Well-developed IT skills, including confident use of Google Workplace or MS Office
HR / People Support
- Evidence of an ability to successfully build and manage relationships with stakeholders and colleagues
- Experience of managing complex employment issues
- Experience of developing and supporting line managers in HR issues
Organisational and Management
- Excellent organisational and time management skills are required
- Experience of line management
- Attention to detail is a key requirement
- Ability to originate, plan and lead HR related projects
- Calm under pressure, with confidence to set and meet deadlines
Communications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Able to demonstrate an ability to sell an idea or concept
- Experience of preparing and delivering presentations would be an advantage
