The court decided that it was in her best interest to withhold her address and any other identifiable information.

Georgia needed help with managing debts of almost £6,000 when she was referred to the Let’s Talk Money service. The 42-year-old was fleeing an abusive relationship. She has had to move home several times after her abusive ex-partner managed to trace her.

Georgia wanted to understand what debt solutions were available to her. She was living in temporary accommodation when she first met our adviser Rhys.

He met her at a location where she felt confident that she was safe to assess her debts and explore the different options available.

It was decided that a Debt Relief Order (DRO) would be the best option for Georgia. Individuals who have been accepted for a DRO have their name placed on the Insolvency Register.

Georgia didn’t want to apply as she was worried her ex-partner could access the register and find out where she was living. Rhys assured her that it was possible to make an application to the court to withhold her address and identifiable information.

He was able to help Georgia with the relevant forms she would need to complete and advised her on what supporting information she would need to support her application to the courts.

We processed Georgia’s DRO application for £5,792, which was approved. The court decided that it was in her best interest to withhold her address and any other identifiable information.  As a result of our support, Georgia was able to navigate the complex legal system and she is now debt free. This has had a positive impact on her financial situation and her overall well-being.
